It's a great concept. But.

I stay disappointed with the way people approach digital storytelling... It's 2014, and some still view gimmicky power-point-like-transitions as some kind of big deal.

The truth is, they don't aid storytelling. They actually hamper it.

In any kind of storytelling that requires reader input/clicking/reaction, you need to give them all the power to progress the story (book, comic), or take it all away, (film). So with any reading form, transitions need to GO. They mess up the pacing in a silly way.

There's tonnes of ways to use digital medium to tell a story creatively. I invite anyone interested to go take a look at this truly eye-opening 'comic' that explains it all much better than I ever could.…

<--- He rocks.

Motion Books please take note.

PS. Totally using this medium myself to make another short like my 'She'. Look here if you haven't seen it!…:( (Sad)

I'm launching a website soon to blog about several ways by which you can live through your art.. i.e. make actual for realsies money, without ever stepping into art school. If I can do it you sure can too!

First I am doing a little poll. Which URL do you prefer? Help me out here...…

BUT WAIT! Every participant will be put in a draw to win a cute Meluseena art fairytale bunting, as published by La La Land. The winner will be picked Friday. It's super easy to enter, and it would be super helpful to me to have your two cents!

I'm starting to run totorials/features/Q+A on my blog and am looking to see what kind of stuff people would like me to write about. The tutorials will be specific techniques more than a start-to-finish pieces, so please be specific in your questions and not ask how to 'draw in photoshop' as that is far too vague :)!

.. I will just check it more regularly than my DA journal, but feel free to leave info here too ;)

I will endeavour to answer all your questions in long/short posts in my blog

Introducting... DangerLabs....

because my comic work looks so different to my 'meluseena' work, I made an account that will be dedicated to it and moved lots of stuff there. For me this will be year of the comic/graphic novel, as I am embarking on several projects. I will upload titbits from these onto my DangerLabs account, which will be my comic illustrator persona, so to speak. <-- voila.

Still the most 'centralised' place for updates would be my blog.. however it's easy to watch a new account if you are a DA user, so headsup if you like my comic style :)

A pocketful of wearables...

I've always loved feathers, and now, they seem to be so very fashionable too! Funny to see my likes come into fashion. I like to keep it personalised though. Check out my newest wearables…

they're more tactile, with sari fabric, feathers and gems added into the mix for a more bohemian look :)

A fave is a fave!

Tue Jun 8, 2010, 4:34 AM
.. so please ignore the 'Don't forget to comment' popup speech bubble that DA has imposed on each artist whenever a viewer faves. I don't mean it. DA IS PUTTING WORDS IN MY MOUTH! :P

When I see one of these asshat 'Don't fave if you don't comment' descriptions or stamps, it really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It impinges the artist's ego over a picture that had given me aesthetic pleasure.
And then I instantly fave without commenting. WITH A VENGEANCE.

Sometimes, you just want to bookmark something pretty but don't have anything useful at all to say. Demanding comments is really greedy and assumes the viewer wants to spend time thinking up something meaningful just to bolster your ego. When a fave is just one click that has the same meaning as an applause. Or a thumbs-up in social media.
