Another 'straightforward painting' (as in, just airbrushing.
Still on my Signer-Sargent stint as hopefully can be discerned... I wanted an excuse to paint a handsome male so who better than Dorian Gray?

I know I know, redhead... not effing likely.. but I wanted the scheme to make sense ;)

I am making the most amazing A4 size prints these days, on Hahnemule paper wich has such beauty and depth, i LOVE it. :)

WOOT! Again a book I adore! First Alice, and now Dorian!
Wilde have some of the BEST quotes ever.
"There is no such thing as a moral or an immoral book. Books are well written, or badly written."

Lovely rendering of Dorian, I love your interpretation! Oh, yay for red/black colour scheme!
Your rough strokes really makes an interesting texture, I've always found pictures where you can't see the strokes at all to be quite flat and sometimes even boring. Strokes add this dynamism, don't you think?

And remember, "we can forgive a man for making a useful thing as long as he does not admire it. The only excuse for making a useless thing is that one admires it intensely.
All art is quite useless." ;)

Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment :)
As to the strokes, I am moving to introduce this level of texture in my 'straightforward art' because most digital artists focus on the ultra-smooth only, and sometimes I think, when we look at old master paintings, it is not the evenness but rather the correct placing of a texture that creates charm in an image..

I adore the coy hint of arrogance in his expression. Would you consider drawing a wicked version of Dorian?

<3 I love it.

And thanks!!! So much :)

This is absolutely gorgeous! There is something in his expression and his pose that, even with the red hair, makes him unmistakable as Dorian! And by the way, I really like the red hair actually!

AHHH :glomp::huggle::hug::heart:

I LOVE YOU for this. It is one of my favorite books of all time. I've always had a huge crush on Mr. Gray, besides his narcissism issues. I think you've captured him well. :nod:
