You know I also dislike fantasy art as a rule...! But only when it is 'generic'... some lady posing in a forest, or some lady with wings or with blood on her mouth, bleh, it can be amazingly painted but the subject is so bland!

I agree. I mean, I love fairytales, I just don't care for generic CG:y stuff with ass n' titties. It's kind of sad, because fantasy in general could be pretty good and it's... not.

There's a lot of very original fantasy art out there in the concept-art field.. the people who come up with landscapes and costumes and spaceships and things for games and film - they're very 'behind the scenes' though. The forefront fantasy artists or the ones in the popular section of places like DA at any rate tend to be so straightforwad-commercial.

And yeah, the t&a is way too overdone... I want to see some crazy and original costumes rather than blatantly-sexed-up figures!

I know there's a lot of original fantasy art out there, but like fantasy literature, it's kind of swallowed up by all the crap. I grew up on fairytale illustrations, so I have a fondness for that kind of stuff still.

Anyway, I'm of tired of badass female warriors in metal bikinis. Do people have any idea how that would CHAFE? I guess not. I think it's particularly sad when the artist is really talented, technique-wise, because I think they could be doing so many amazing things instead of just dudes in heavy armor and seductive sorceresses. But that's just me.

This is truely amazing. It also very much makes me want to make a 3-d character like thing.

This is fabulous. It's very eerie and unsettling and seems to have a big, juicy ol' narrative behind it--even though the image is deceptively simple. Beautiful textures on the raven and cloth ('specially the left sleeve). Gotta love the pale copper and silver coloration of her hair and skin, as well. The hand seems structurally awkward compared to the rest, but otherwise I see only Good Things.
